ZEUS project overview

Project scope, research priorities and key facts about Zero/low Emission Aircraft Integration into the Future European Air Traffic System.

ZEUS (Zero/low Emission Aircraft Integration into Future European Air Traffic System) is a SESAR exploratory research project. It is developing an integrated framework to model, manage and assess the effects of next-generation aircraft on Europe’s air traffic management network.

Research priorities

  • Develop performance models for zero- and low-emission aircraft and forecast future traffic demand.
  • Define representative mixed-fleet operations and identify integration challenges.
  • Explore strategic procedure design and pre-tactical traffic-flow support.
  • Assess impacts on traffic synchronisation and the benefits of mitigation measures.
